On Friday 22 November, the Sentio partner IUC Syd (Industrial Development Centre South) organized Skåne Industry Day focusing on sustainability, efficiency and Lean manufacturing. Christina Windmark was there representing Sentio.

During the Skåne Industry Day several companies shared their journey on how to become more efficient and include sustainability in their decisions and development. They also reflected on how Lean manufacturing methods can be integrated with sustainability improvements.

Christina Windmark, Associate Senior Lecturer at Lund University was there representing SPI (the strategic research area Sustainable Production Initiative, a collaboration between Chalmers and Lund University) and Sentio Competence Centre. In her talk she gave a general overview of the global sustainability situation, in which nature and people's health are affected, and presented how industry can counteract its negative impact on environment and people by systematically use sensor-based information for data-driven decisions.

IUC Syd's labour market manager Linda Florén presented how young people view the labour market and their attitudes towards working in industry. In summary, both academia and industry need to improve the way we communicate how interesting, important and rewarding positions in technology and manufacturing actually are.

As part of the program Bengt-Göran Rosén and Mattias Bokinge from Halmstad University demonstrated the possibilities and offerings of Ingenjör 4.0 which is a digital platform developed in cooperation with 13 Swedish universities providing module based upskilling programs for industry.

The day was wrapped up with a panel discussion on how to improve industrial skills relating to sustainability and digitalization. In this respect Ingenjör 4.0 in collaboration with IUC is currently offering SMEs to take the course modules free of charge during the spring of 2025.
